How To Make Money Writing Articles: Find the Right Affiliate Programs for Your Website
from: Glenn CutforthOne way to make money with articles you've placed on websites is to have a variety of good affiliate links you'll use to generate revenue. Therefore you need to know where to find affiliate programs and then choose the best ones for your niche website.
When you pick an affiliate program, you need to determine which companies offer you the best opportunities for profit based on how well that product converts into a sale. There are many types of affiliate prodcuts you can promote, with some offering you a higher rate of commission than others. Before you get too exited however, remember that some products will inevitably sell better than others. If you sell one product four times a year from a little known company that gives you $100 per sale or sell a well known product 3 times a week at the rate of $10 per sale, then you can see that you'll make substantially more money with the $10 per sale product.
Large, well known companies often offer a small commissions per sale because they're established and know their product will likely sell well. Small, unknown companies, on the other hand, need all of the affiliates promoting their products they can find since their products are likely to sell less frequently.
The most important rule when picking affiliate programs is to promote on your website products that will likely be of interest to those who visit your site. This should be obvious, because placing links to car part prodcucts on a site about dog training would be a total waste of time since visitors are likely to be interested in dog related products. If your niche site targets parents of young children, then promote baby products. If you niche site targets gardeners, then promote gardening products. If you promote baby products to gardeners, you're not likely going to make a profit no matter how much money the affiliate company offers for each sale.
Finally, there are two main ways to find affiliate products to promote on your niche website. You can sign up with a company, such as Commission Junction or ShareASale that manages the accounts of hundreds of other companies -- large and small -- and apply for the products within these accounts. You can do a web search for companies that match well with your niche by visiting their websites and see if they advertise an affiliate program that you can join.
