What Need To Know Before You Submit To Article Directories

from: Glenn Cutforth

If you're a writer, there is no better time than now to start profiting from your creative writing skills.

Modern communication technology has brought information-based marketing to the forefront, one of the most effective techniques in getting targeted visitors to websites and converting them into buyers. Therefore article writing, submissions and publications has become one of the most popular tools to accomplish this task.

Many tools exist to make the process of distributing articles easier, which makes it invaluable in getting this content more exposure.

However, there are a number of mistakes some people make before submitting their contents to article directories:

1. They sometimes confuse the reason to promote the articles with the reason to write them.

With article writing, there are three key benefits why you're promoting them -- branding, lead generation and promotion, which should all be part of your optimization strategies.

However, there should only be one reason why an article is written -- to inform your audience. If, when writing the article, you don't focused on this primary and main purpose, there's a good chance the article will fail to achieve these promotional benefits. It's even possible no one will be interested in reading your articles.

Therefore, you should first determine how to get people to read your article, which will hopefully lead to them clicking on your resource box. The only way to achieve this is by producing quality content.

2. Not maximizing all the potential promotional opportunities of Article Marketing.

You probably realize that your articles help to generate additional links back to your website. However, wer you aware that you can also get more visitors and better search engine results from thes same articles?

It's important to use your keywords in strategic places within the article, as long as you don't overdo it. Some even use anchor text, which is also an effective method, but keep in mind that majority of directories don't support this usage.

Also remember, it isn't just about the links back to your site. A large part of being successful with article marketing is getting picked up by publishers who have a large audience and being able to leverage other brands because of the quality of your work. This will also result in better search engine positioning.

However, with all that effort, this won't put a lot of money in your pocket. There are several other factors that can turn your article marketing efforts into ways to boost your income and not just increase the number of visitors to your site. Start out with a good plan to ensure your article serves the function you intended.

3. Publishing content that isn't helpful to readers.

While writing your articles, you may be thinking that the main purpose is to get links back to your site and that any visitors it generates will do.

However, not all article directories will accept your content automatically, since they usually have guidelines and specifications for the articles they accept. You can increase the number of sites you can submit to simply by writing articles the directories want to make avaialbe to people. All it takes is one publisher with a hundred thousand readers to increase your potential audience almost overnight.

So make sure you write articles publishers want publish if you want your article marketing to be the most effective. This means you must follow the standard guidelines including spell checks, doing research on a topic that will have interestt and possibly hiring a ghostwriter to produce good content for you.

The bottom line: it's a matter of choice on your part. You can get some exposure from increased backlinks, or get massive exposure spending some extra time writing high quality content.

It's your choice. Learn to research and write quality articles that will appeal to a large audience and it will surely benefit you in the long run.
